Benefit for a Brighter Future 2008

The RCEF is pleased to announce that we raised more than $127,000 at the Benefit for a Brighter Future (BBF) 2008. Close to 230 Redwood City parents, community members, and business leaders attended the sold-out event.

Storytime starts at 11:30 am with the AMAZING author/illustrator Jim LaMarche reading his books and signing them after his presentation.

Our own Sharon Levin, who has been reviewing children's literature for over ten years, will be your personal book shopper, helping you choose the perfect books for the young people on your gift list. 

Redwood City school librarians will also be on hand as well to recommend their favorite books of the season. Let us help you pick out the perfect book for family and friends.

Mention the RCEF at the register and Kepler’s will donate 15% of your purchase!

Gift wrapping will be done by Redwood City students, and the tips (wrap is free) also benefit the RCEF.

Benefit for a Brighter Future 2007

The 2007 Benefit for a Brighter Future was the most successful fundraising event ever for the RCEF, with close to $100,000 raised, and more than 170 people in attendance.

Family FUN Nights —Food & Fun for the Whole Family

The RCEF together with the San Francisco Center for the Book (SFCB) will be once again be sponsoring Family Fun nights throughout the district — this time with a focus on our district’s wellness coordinator.

Activities will include make-your-own dessert, bookmaking, games and raffles. This FREE event will be fun for the whole family. We hope to see you all there!

Juke Box Gala Night

We raised nearly $60,000 at our biggest event of the year. Thanks to our generous supporters, we will be able to direct all the money raised into programs supporting our students.

RCEF celebrates Independence Day!

The RCEF celebrated the 67th annual Independence Day parade in downtown Redwood City with our own float, marchers and an RCEF information booth. Thanks to our many volunteers for their help.

 

Internet Safety for Kids

A special presentation co-sponsored by the RCEF and the Redwood City Public Library featuring Larry Magid. Mr. Magid is the author of Child Safety on the Information Highway and Teen Safety on the Information Highway, free booklets available from National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Mr. Magid is also a syndicated technology columnist and broadcaster for more than two decades, and contributes to CBS News, the New York Times, and other media outlets.

First to Worst Screening

More than 400 Redwood City parents, educators, and community members came to view First to Worst, an award winning documentary and join in a panel discussion featuring John Merrow, executive producer and host of The Merrow Report; Delaine Eastin, former state superintendent of public instruction; and Susan Sweeney, Director of the California Consortium of Education Foundations.
