Make a Change

Everyone has a role to play in helping our community thrive. Together, we can lift our public schools so our youngest can reach their highest potential. The Redwood City Education Foundation raises funds and coordinates resources for underserved students and schools in the Redwood City School District. We rely on the generosity of our community to help achieve our mission through volunteerism, donations, and partnerships.

This year, we aim to raise $754,500 for a literacy and reading specialist, math support, tutors, mental health counselors, a behavioral specialist, and enrichment opportunities for students and families.

Employer Matching

Many employers offer a Matching Gifts Program that can double or even triple your gift to RCEF. Some employee matching programs require submitting proof of a donation through a company portal, and then the company will provide match gifts. Other programs allow employees to donate through a company portal and have their donations matched automatically.

Don't know if your employer has a Matching Gift Program? Follow the steps and increase your gift to RCEF!

  • Step 1: Find out if your company has a matching gift policy — talk to your employer or human resources department to get the matching gift form.

  • Step 2: Once you have the matching gift form, fill in the required fields. Here’s some information you might need:

    • Organization Name: Redwood City Education Foundation

    • Organization Mailing Address: PO Box 3046, Redwood City, CA 94063

    • Organization Website: www.rcef.org

    • Tax ID: 94–2903141

Stocks & Donor Advised Funds

If you choose to donate stock or other assets that have increased in value, you can enjoy a double benefit in terms of tax savings. Firstly, as a donor, you will not be required to pay capital gains tax on the appreciated property. Secondly, you can claim an income tax deduction for the entire market value of the gift when it was made. The process of transferring securities is also hassle-free. If you decide to make a stock donation, kindly inform us at treasurer@rcef.org, and we will provide you with the necessary brokerage details

Legacy Giving

To help the Redwood City Education Foundation and create a lasting impact, consider making a bequest in your will or living trust. By doing so, you can allocate your legacy for a specific or general purpose, ensuring that your contribution is used per your wishes. Charitable bequests are not subject to federal estate taxes. If your estate is taxable, the estate tax charitable deduction can offset or eliminate estate taxes, increasing the amount you can leave to your heirs.

To ensure your bequest is drafted correctly, we recommend consulting an estate lawyer or professional for advice on specific bequest language. If you or your representative require assistance, we have a sample bequest language available. For further information, please get in touch with us at treasurer@rcef.org.

Join our Board

The Redwood City Education Foundation (RCEF) is excited to announce openings on our Board of Directors. Our team is dedicated to improving the academic performance of underserved students in the Redwood City School District. In particular, we support those schools with the highest proportion of low-income students by funding programs that improve reading and math scores and strengthen student engagement and social-emotional learning.

Members of the RCEF Board of Directors are volunteers who use their personal and professional resources and expertise to:

  • Support fundraising campaigns

  • Build community relationships

  • Connect families and students with community resources

  • Guide the organization’s strategic direction

As an organization committed to equity, we are looking for prospective board members who critically examine the public school system and ways to improve it. Being an RCSD parent is not required.
