Our Approach
RCEF aims to serve the entire district while applying an equity lens to how we invest, engage, advocate, and build community support. We consider differences in student need, access to additional resources, and where RCEF can help expand educational opportunity.
We invest where barriers are greatest.
We spend time with families, educators, school leaders, and community members to understand barriers, experiences, priorities, and hopes for Redwood City students. That includes listening projects, school and community events, and ongoing advisory structures.

While four schools enroll about one-quarter of district students, they serve nearly half of the district’s socioeconomically disadvantaged students. This disparity helps guide where deeper investment is warranted.

We turn community voice into action.
RCEF listens to families, educators, school leaders, and community members to understand barriers, priorities, and opportunities across Redwood City schools. We bring those perspectives into conversations with district leaders, funders, and community partners so local experience can help shape decisions, investments, and advocacy.

We also support efforts to strengthen public investment in our schools, including community coalitions and local funding measures such as parcel taxes and school bonds.
We foster shared responsibility for public education.
RCEF connects families, residents, businesses, philanthropy, nonprofits, and school communities around a shared commitment to Redwood City students. Through giving, partnerships, events, and community participation, we create more ways for people to contribute to our students’ success.
